Aid to Ukraine as part of the EU budget

In 2023, the funds allocated by the EU for assistance to Ukraine may officially become part of the planned EU budget. The finance ministers of the European countries agreed to add an article on aid payments to Ukraine to the budget in order to have the opportunity for a rational distribution of funds and better structuring.

This was stated by the Vice President of the European Commission, Valdis Dombrovskis: “It is important to have a more predictable cash flow for Ukraine next year, so we intend to integrate it into the discussion of the EU budget for 2023 and thus make it more stable. An agreement was reached between the ministers on such an approach.”

The ministers also reached a consensus that Ukraine will be able to receive the next tranche of EUR 5 billion in three parts: in October, November, and December 2022.
